Payton Douglas is a true TRIPLE THREAT talent!! She has been training in voice and theory since the age of 7 and recently completed her grade 8 vocal examination and grade 4 theory examination with Conservatory Canada, receiving a First Class Honours with Distinction on both examinations. She has also been training in piano since the age of 4.
Payton has also been dancing since the age of 3 and has received training in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Acro, Pointe, Musical Theatre, Hip-Hop and Lyrical. She is planning to complete her grade 5 dance examinations this coming year. Payton has been in many productions put on by Studio One Dance including Seussical, Wicked, Mary Poppins, Annie, Matilda, and Grease. In addition, she was a member of Vibe’s Competitive Musical Theatre team for 3 years. Payton has showcased her triple threat talents in many local musicals including Vibe’s production of “Aladdin” (Genie); Vibe’s production of “The Lion King” (Pumbaa); Applauze Productions “Legally Blonde” (Pilar); Vibe Music/All The Daze Production of Matilda (Matilda).
Payton has won numerous awards in singing competitions and received the Medal of Excellence for receiving the highest mark in the province on her Grade 3 Voice examination with Conservatory Canada. She won 16 gold medals over the years at the Lakehead Festival of Music and The Arts and 2 Judge’s Choice Awards at Thunderstruck Dance Competition.
Payton was recently accepted into the Institute for American Musical Theatre in New York City for their Broadway Bootcamp Spring and Summer Intensives. During this summer’s Intensive, Payton had the opportunity to work with some of the top choreographers, vocal coaches and acting coaches in the USA including: Andrew Drost, Michael Minarik, Nicholas Cunningham, Marni Raab, Gavin Lee, Ted Keener, Manuela Oliveria, Lizz Picini, Ricky Hinds, Lindsay Lancaster, Deanna Doyle and Kammie Crum.
